EFFECTIVENESS AND SERVICES |
 |
In the field of the traditional poplar plantations, the aim of Alasia Franco Vivai is the
achievement and the marketing of clones resistant to the main diseases which would allow
the abbreviation of the felling turnovers and that would guarantee a high quality of the
wood been produced.
Recently it has been inserted in the Official Experimentation a range of 6 new hybrid
poplar clones called AF3, AF4, AF7, AF8, AF9, AF6.
Thanks to big genetic differences, the New AF series for the traditional poplar plantations
allows us to have a material which is adaptable to several environmental conditions,
allowing the cultivation of our clones in all the European Countries.
For this reason, Alasia Franco Vivai ha set up an ad hoc company dealing with foreign
countries. Alasia New Clones has already been structured with a network of
concessionaries in many countries of the European Community and it is interested into
extending the concession of the production rights to the nursery men who intend to
cultivate and to market the new varieties.

Presently, amongst the clones registered to the National Registry of the Forestry Clones,
there is the A4A, an Euroamerican hybrid with high performances which in the comparative
plantations realized in various European Countries (Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, England,
Hungary) has proved to be the most productive one, with felling turnovers moving from 9 – 16
years to 6-10 years according to the soil quality and the water availability.

Poplar clones for plywood logs production
In the field of the traditional poplar growing, the aim of Alasia Franco Vivai is the constitution and the marketing in Italy and abroad of
clones tolerant to the main diseases which would allow the abbreviations of the felling turnovers and that would guarantee a high quality of the
wood. Presently, thanks to the genetic improvement activity (carried out parallely to the one for the biomass) A4A was registered,
and 6 new hybrid clones are in the final stage of registration.
